Storm Eunice is causing chaos across London's transport network, with Tube lines disrupted and Euston station completely closed.

Which areas could be affected? Much of the UK will be affected by Eunice, says the Met Office. The first weather warning will come into force from 7am along the coastline of Devon, Cornwall and Somerset as well as the south coast of Wales due to the combination of high tides, strong winds and storm surge.

The best time to visit London is from April to June and September to October when the weather is mild and there are fewer crowds. However, keep in mind that prices for hotels and flights are generally higher during these months.

Winter (December - February)

Winters in London are characterised by cold and often rainy weather. The average high between December and February is 48°F (9°C) and the average low is 41°F (5°C). However, freezing temperatures are not uncommon and snow is not unheard of.

December is forecasted to see the beginning of the cold hitting the south of England, as the probability of snow falls more heavily around January and March than at the end of 2022. Snow or sleet will fall an average four days in December, compared to five days in January and February - and four days in March.

When will Storm Eunice hit my area? South Wales and Cornwall will be hit first by Storm Eunice, with winds peaking at around 9am with gusts of up to 80mph. While Cornwall, Devon and Western Wales are expected to be impacted by the storm from 7am, Bristol are set to see winds as strong as 95mph around 9am.

Gusts of 90mph are expected across Bournemouth, Dorset and the South Coast. Storm Eunice is forecast to hit the region at 10am and will last until 3pm.

Don't go outdoors to repair damage while the storm is in progress. If you do go out, it says, try not to walk near buildings and trees. The Met Office also recommends that you keep away from the sheltered side of boundary fences and walls - this is the side they will collapse on.

Types of Weather Models

The ECMWF is generally considered the most accurate, just slightly so, than the American system. However, they do provide access to weather predictions worldwide. The most accurate model, on average, is the European model.

In a composite measure of accuracy, the Weather Channel and Weather Underground came top, AccuWeather fifth, MeteoGroup (the BBC's new provider) sixth and the BBC ninth (based on Met Office forecasts).
